Chinese New Year Mood Around Chinatown

Out and about in Chinatown Singapore to capture the mood leading up to Chinese New Year. Chinatown is extremely colourful at this time of the year, especially at night. As usual, the place is always crowded. I conducted a few night photography workshops during that week. There was so much going on, which is great for every participants to have a chance to put that street and night photography skill into practice.

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple adorned with red bright lights to welcome the Lunar New Year.

One of the spectators photographing a concert performance. It was a nightly concert in Chinatown, organised for the elderly communities, which of course everyone can join in to enjoy the show.

The usual scene at the Senior Citizen’s Corner where serious Chinese chess players are in a match.

Chinese New Year’s goodies, from decoration to food. Almost everything is red colour which signifies prosperity.

Red lanterns and decorations of cute colourful rats along the main road. This New Year is the Year of The Rat.
