Clouds In Photography

Why are clouds important in outdoor photography?

Clouds act as natural reflectors. Clouds help to balance the lighting on the subject. Therefore an overcast day is not at all a bad day for photography.

Composing with clouds is another photography technique to create some sort of ambience and mood for your photo.

Clouds are important to create that dramatic sunset and sunrise sky. High clouds reflect the stunning colours of the sunlight.

Without the cloud, sunset and sunrise photos would look rather boring and flat, just like the following photo.
